Hello! Thanks for visiting and please enjoy the free info below!

Just fyi, you can find me over at www.dorisfullgrabe.com from now on, where I'm making custom lettering and calligraphy.

This archive will be discontinued next month.

During my session at the Association for Psychological Type International Conference, I asked participants to describe their countries in 5 words. For many, it was the first time thinking about how to describe their culture.

Think about it - when was the last time someone asked you to explain that which is completely natural and normal to you?

Below is a graphic representation of their answers - the larger the word, the more often it was mentioned. We've had more diversity in the room, but only the UK and the USA had more than three respondents.

The balance between positive and constructive statements shows that the audience had a good level of self-reflection. Type practitioners are naturally more aware of the value of interpersonal differences, and I'm also going to guess that most have at least traveled if not even lived abroad.

As with Type appreciation, culture awareness also begins with us. We have to know what we think is normal to see what others might see as different.

If you'd like to explore your own cultural programming, contact me. I'm putting together a series of webinars for Type practitioners who work with international clients to help differentiate between what's Type and what's cultural.
